Where I Grew Up:
I have spent most of my life in Floyd County, Virginia.

Most of my education and background is in the Special Education field. While I loved my previous experiences with Special Education, I thought there was a different calling I should pursue. After making a huge career change, I have been working here at Valley for a short amount of time.

The Two Things That Make My Job Worth It:
1. Being able to work for a company who values me as a person makes this job the best one I have ever had. Valley Landscaping and the peers I work with have made me feel at home since the day I started!
2. I also love that I can be involved with a lot of different aspects in the company. I get to help our customers and the staff here. Two days are never the exact same for me and I love that it keeps me on my toes!

Family:
I currently live in the Christiansburg area with my husband, Evan. We are blessed to have three children named Avri, Brylee, and Camden.

Hobbies:
If I am not at a ball field or a church event with my family, you can find me reading a book or throwing ball with our dog, Duke.

Mark Stone

Where I Grew Up:
Born and raised in Wytheville, VA. Lived at Smith Mountain Lake for 13 years. Lived and currently live in the New River Valley for total of 7 years.

Education and/or Background and/or Years at Valley:
Began career as a Professional Landscaper at Valley Landscaping in 1998. Working with one of the Commercial Grading Crews, was offered a position as Supervisor with the Grounds Maintenance Division and held that position through the summer of 2002.Attended College of Life Sciences at Virginia Tech. Received a degree as an Associate of Agriculture in 2004, with an emphasis on Turf and Landscape Management.
Involved in the Design, Development, and Installation of Landscape, Hardscape, and Masonry Projects throughout Southwest Virginia.

Certified by the National Concrete Masonry Association and the Interlocking Concrete Paving Institute. Utilizes Advanced Construction and Engineering Methods and has gained an extensive working knowledge of Landscape, Hardscape, and Masonry fields.

Family:
Most extended family lives in Southwest Virginia with some in Northern VA, Georgia, South Carolina, and Pennsylvania. My son and I reside in Blacksburg, VA.

I’m musically inclined with an emphasis on guitar & piano. Water enthusiast. Snow Enthusiast. Anything to do with my family enthusiast.

Any that is deer resistant, shade tolerant, full sun, needs no water, cold hardy, thrives in swampy conditions, evergreen, flowers in my client’s favorite color, and smells like fresh laundry year round.

2018 will be my 15th year with Valley Landscaping. I started with the company on the lawn maintenance division maintaining properties. After several years of running mowing crews I switched divisions to become a spray tech with the goal to further my knowledge and skills to one day make it into a management position. Last year I made that goal and I'm now managing the spray tech division. My new goal is to Improve the way the spray tech division operates and improve the services we provide. I take a lot of pride in the work I do and I'll do whatever I can to go above and beyond for our customers.


The Two Things That Make My Job Worth It:
1. I have always believed in "giving back" or helping people out when you can and I feel that is what Valley Landscaping is all about. Building relations and watching a landscape transform to better someone's way of living or improving the beauty of their environment has always been the most gratifying aspect of my job!
2. My co-workers......seriously, we are like one big family!

A loving wife, a beautiful 7year old daughter and a giant Staffordshire terrier named Suge.

Hobbies:
First and fore most spending time with the family. I also enjoy drawing and painting, golfing, hiking, rock climbing, kayaking, snowboarding and creating bonsai trees.

David McPhereson

Landscape Division Production Manager

David, former owner and production manager of Virginia House Movers, joined Valley Landscaping in late 2014. David comes to us with the skills necessary to maintain a prompt lead time. David works closely with our landscaping crews to ensure that they have all the supplies and materials needed in order to make the project run smoothly from start to finish. Although mostly behind the scenes, David strives to exceed the expectations of our Valley Landscaping clients.

David lives in Blacksburg with his wife and two sons. In his free time, David enjoys working on the farm, hunting, and flying around the countryside in his brother's plane.
